Pharmacy tech's have helped licensed pharmacists provide medication and other pharmacy products to patients. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions. A pharmacy technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. A pharmacy technician receives and stores incoming supplies, verifies stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records. This type of career requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
